This project is an Eco House in Bishopston Swansea.
The client here has specified the Nu-Lok 50 year ceramic slate system with the galvanized steel battens, which will encorporate 10m2 of solar thermal slates.
This section of solar slates should supply enough hot water for three people, but instead this system has been linked to a heat exchanger and underfloor heating to provide towards the heating for the house.
The roof has also been set so that our client can in the future add photovoltaic solar slates to the system which will provide him with useable electricity which when not being used by the house will be sold back to the grid at an increased price.
The beauty of this system is that the solar system sits flush with the roof so it removes the unsightly black boxes sitting on the roof. In the pictures I have included some of a roof we completed using natural slates where the old style of solar panels have been installed to show the difference in finish.
Within the roof of the Eco house we installed 4 Fakro roof windows which are triple glazed so offer tremendous insulation values when compared to a standard double glazed rood windows, and they are not as expensive as you might imagine.
If you require any further information regarding the solar solutions we offer or are interested in getting some installed please call us on 01834 871 354 today.
